Rancho Dos Pueblos Wedding by Annie McElwain

Jaymee and Reis had a gorgeous wedding that really reflected their personalities and lifestyles. Located at the stunning Rancho Dos Pueblos in Santa Barbara, this couple picked the location of their dreams. With the ceremony looking over the Pacific Ocean and the reception in a charming barn, this day could not have gotten any better and more picturesque. Annie McElwain was there to capture this beautiful day in photographs and Ryan McDuff was right there with her to capture emotions through video. Enjoy!

Girl Meets Boy…

Reis and I met through mutual friends while attending UC Santa Barbara. He grew up on the North Shore of Oahu and I grew up in Southern California. We dated four years before we got engaged, including one year of long distance and a move (for me) across the Pacific Ocean to the island of Oahu.

Memorable Moments…

Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Reis getting teary eyed was really special. I’ve never seen him cry, so it was touching to see him get emotional on our wedding day! There is so much anticipation walking down the aisle and it really is a moment I will never forget.

Details…

I could’t wait to marry my groom and become his wife. It sounds cheesy, but it’s true! I was so excited to see him during our first look shot and I got first date butterflies all over again! I was also really excited to see everything come together! After so many months of planning out every little detail, arriving at the venue and seeing everything set up beyond what I had imagined was really exciting.

Wedding Planning Inspiration…

Since Reis was born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu, the ocean is a huge part of his life and it was really special to have the Pacific as the backdrop where we exchanged our vows. The cocktail hour was set up on a grassy area right below the bluffs on the beach. As a major plus, we were blessed with amazing weather and the most incredible sunset on our wedding day! The reception was held in the barn so our guests were able to experience the different locations of the venue. A week before our wedding, I left my full-time job as a tax accountant to pursue freelance graphic design, so it figures that designing every last detail was what I was most excited about in the process! In planning the decor/aesthetic, my main goal was to “brand our wedding.” In designing our logo, invitations, weekend itinerary, menus, and all of the other paper goods, it was really important to me for it all to be cohesive as those things can set the mood and theme for the whole day. I guess you could say the style of our wedding was a mix of modern, rustic, and vintage. Since I have a major love for marquee lights, I thought it would be fun to have them in our initials for the back of the barn and would serve as the focal point above the head table. I told my parents the idea and they made them from scratch! We also made them for the BAR, COFFEE bar, and SWEETS station to add to the mood for the evening.

Color Palet…

I love neutrals! I wanted our wedding colors to complement our venue so we had a lot of neutrals, lace, and pops of mint and blush.

RADDEST Wedding Vendors…

We could not have been happier with our photographer, Annie McElwain, and our videographer, Ryan McDuff. They were both really amazing to work with and we are so happy they were a part of our special day. They captured everything more perfectly than I could have hoped for and I am so happy that we will always have stunning images and a beautiful film to take us back to the emotions and memories.

Advice for Other “Newbie Brides”…

Invest in a good photographer and videographer! When the day is all over (and the months of planning/DIYing/stressing have come to an end), it is so fun to re-live your wedding day through photos and film.
